F Michael Hemmer, LS, P.C. was formed as a New York State Professional Corporation in April of 2005. Michael Hemmer has been involved in the practice of land surveying since working on the construction of a new highway in the mountains of the Idaho panhandle in 1972. Michael was licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in New York and New Jersey in 1987.
The professional corporation was formed three years after Michael and East End native John Landi had been surveying together on a part-time basis. During the part-time years, John was working as a master carpenter and Michael was computing the alignment of superconducting magnets for the construction of the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The successful commissioning of RHIC, along with John's enthusiastic response to the practice of land surveying created the opportunity to start the company.
